Get Off the Phone and Spend Time with People, Buick Asks

Buick is launching a campaign to encourage people to put their phones away and spend more time #inthemoment, interacting with one another. The initiative includes a Tumblr page, Twitter hashtag and a healthy dose of humor making the rounds on social media. The ultimate goal is for everybody to take the pledge and commit to putting your phone down and enjoying life more.

The most successful post of all is a music video in which Internet comedians Rhett & Link drive around in a Buick Regal poking fun at people who live with their noses buried into their mobile devices, leading to social alienation and some dangerous situations. The video has been such a hit that it has gone viral, with more than 1.2 million views in just three weeks. If you haven’t watched it already, do it now!

Of course, one of the main reasons Buick is backing this campaign is to reduce traffic fatalities. One instance when you should definitely ignore your phone is as soon as you sit behind the wheel of your vehicle. At Rossi Chevrolet Buick GMC, we support Buick’s campaign and we ask all our customers to use their phones sensibly. So put your phone down and drive safe!
